Cincinnati was founded on the Ohio River near the Little Miami and the Great Miami Rivers in 1788. It quickly became our 1st major inland city that rivaled east coast cities in size and wealth. In 1853, Cincinnati became the 1st U.S. city to have a paid full-time fire department and in 1869 the Cincinnati Red-Stockings were the 1st professional baseball team. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world.
