Description
This is the second in a series I am working on depicting overlapping images of bearded irises. The models for this painting are a vintage bearded iris from the 1920s called Rameses. I live in a house built in 1934, and I enjoy growing vintage plant varieties that were popular at the time the home was constructed. I liked the way these flowers seemed to glow against a dark doorway, and the way the colors seem to move and change as you look at them. For this painting I used Arches 140 hot press paper.

Dear Marsha, I respectfully disagree with your not being able to do irises justice! These ARE…AMAZING irises! …they are so exquisitely delicate…like butterfly wings or delicate gauze with a maze of intricate veining and kisses of Colour…
