An adult North American Beaver adding to its dam.
I sat nearly motionless for about an hour on the side of this Beaver Dam, watching the activity of this Beaver family. They would gather and eat the bark off of willow branches and then this adult brought in this large willow trunk to add to the top of their dam. At one point, one of the young swam up to within 3 feet of me to check out a willow branch in the water below me, too close for my long lens to focus on. It never noticed me hiding in the branches and leaves above it and it swam off none the wiser about its encounter with a human.
