Description
This image displays reflections of pilings from an abandoned ferry dock on Puget Sound. All that is left are these wooden deserted pilings and an amazing park on the shore. Taken at Titlow Park, the ferry reflects a time when transportation depended on boats rather than bridges. This particular ferry dock is located just south of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, the narrowest passage across which a bridge could be built to the Key Peninsula. The bridge has a long history, once known as Galloping Gertie because of its historic fall into the sound and subsequent replacement. Now two bridges stand side by side just to the North of this site, but it is still known as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, as though there were only one.
