Description
Western NY state Southern Tier, Allegany County, Andover Ponds. Andover was carved out of a virgin wilderness in 1824, by 1850 the Erie Lackawanna Railroad was laid here in Railroad Valley a mere 19 years later the golden spike, linking the Atlantic & Pacific across a continent, was driven at Promontory Summit in Utah. The blinding speed of westward expansion truly boggles my mind.
