FIRST PLACE winner of the US PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 2016 and the WILDLIFE competitions, A TEAR FOR AMERICA is a mixed media artwork that portrays the sadness of what has happened to the individual freedoms and the pride of America. The politicians seem to be committed to creating divisions rather than unification, to be aligned more to large corporations and banking interests than to the people they are supposed to serve and the Constitution has been tattered because the Home of the Free and the Brave has been perverted into the Home of the Indentured and the Fearful.

And the real sadness is that the young will never really know what has been lost. For this we should all be shedding a tear.

In this political season let us remind each other that we are ONE NATION with a COMMON PURPOSE, not red and blue states, conservatives vs liberals, Democrats vs Republicans, rich vs poor, people of color vs whites, citizens vs immigrants, and any other form of right vs wrong. My hope is that this artwork becomes a symbol for turning sadness into once again a feeling of optimism, of national pride and the strength of unification.
