Description
The Redwood National and State Parks run along the northern coast of California. Jedediah Smith State Park is the last in the string of these redwood parks. This park when joined with the other forests of redwoods combine to equal 105,516 acres, representing 36 percent of California's old growth redwood forest. The oldest coast redwoods are about 2000 years old and show no signs of dying. Trees can grow to 350 feet or more, with a base diameter of about 20 ft.
There are numerous walking trails through these beautiful trees in this vast acreage of redwood's but there is only one road that travels east and west through this scenic park. That is Howling Hill Road which in many spots is only wide enough for one vehicle to pass. But taking time to travel this road is well worth the time and patience to be this close to such a beautiful collection of vegetation and towering redwoods.

A beautiful shot, Raul -- and really shows off the size of that tree trunk! Wow! I've always wanted to visit the Redwoods, and hope that visit happens sooner, rather than later!

It is a great spot. go in May if you do because the rains clean everything off and the wild rhododendrons may be blooming. And give yourself enough time!
