Hydrangeas remind me of a precious 97-year-old friend who left this world before I was ready for her to go. Margaret told stories of growing up on the Dakota plain, one of nine children. The day I met her, she gave me a tour of her massive hydrangea bushes that grew along her picket fence. I can't photograph a hydrangea without thinking of my friend.
