Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Artist's Description

Wearable computer. Researcher wearing a visor as part of the Sulawesi smart computing system. This system aims to define protocols for speech control and networked input, adaptable for future uses. It also includes a visual output (visor). It is smart and proactive, sensing the environment to change its operational mode or remind the user of tasks. The Sulawesi system is being developed by Adrian F. Clark and his team at the University of Essex, England. Wearable technology aims to develop and integrate computing and mobile phone technology, to design new interfaces, and to miniaturize the devices so that they are worn as naturally as a watch is today. Photographed in 2002.
