Lead in acid. Piece of lead (Pb) in a test tube of hydrochloric acid (HCl). Lead is an unreactive metal, which does not react with dilute hydrochloric acid at room temperature. Because it is unreactive, lead is also highly resistant to corrosion and is used to contain corrosive liquids such as sulphuric acid. It is also very malleable and is extensively used in building construction, e.g. external coverings of roofing joints.
