On display at the Borghese museum in Rome stands a life size marble sculpture of David about to throw a sling as in the old testament's biblical story of David and Goliath in the book of Samuel... in which with a single stone brought down Goliath allowing David to behead him. Created by by Gian Lorenzo Bernini at 24 years of age for the cardinal Borghese himself as a commissioned work that took 7 months to finish in 1624.
