Description
Chamaeleo monachus is a native Socotri reptile, it is very rare and can only be seen in few locations over the island (It has an estimated area of occupancy of 132 km˛ only). However, it can be found on palm groves, valleys and vegetation areas.
Studies have recorded the presence of 30 types of reptiles in Socotra; 27 of them cannot found anywhere except Socotra. Reptile’s scientists believe there are other types of reptiles have not been discovered in Socotra Archipelago!
