Barns in Midwest America

For many in the U.S., the barn is the symbol of the Midwest. It represents tangible wealth, solid citizenship, industry, stability, and other agrarian values associated with its conservative, Anglo-Saxon settlers. These barns draw on a rich blend of materials, values, and technologies from the Old World and the New, while at the same time leaving their identifiable mark on the American landscape. (Adapted from the book 'Barns of the Midwest' by Allen G. Noble) So this week's contest focuses on BARNS IN MIDWEST AMERICA.

1. The image must include a barn or parts of a barn.

2. The image must have been captured/created in one of the 12 Midwest states -- Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas. The state must be included in the tag, description or title.

3. Photography, paintings or drawings are included.

4. Family friendly: no nudity, no graffiti, no dark gothic images.

5. Images will be removed without notice that do not fit the contest parameters.

6. No vote solicitation.

7. If you are not yet a member, you are invited to join the MIDWEST AMERICA Group. Note the group's focus and guidelines.

Each participant may submit 5 images.

1)   You must be a member of FineArtAmerica.com in order to cast votes in this contest.   Your account must have been active at least 30 days prior to the start of the contest in order to vote.

2)   You may only vote once per image.

3)   You may vote for as many images as you like... but only once for any given image.
