The quest for support, sponsorship, patronage, and whatever it takes to stay afloat.

Dis jointed thoughts. Dat jointed thoughts!

To this date nobody has ever purchased a piece of art which I have created. Does that make me a second class artist?

"I ink therefore I am". Rene Descartes has "art" in his name and 'ink' in his most famous quote. Is that not somewhat amusing?

Today I spent more than 4 hours working on my online store. This is not at all unusual for me. That I should spend so much of my valuable time creating new images, uploading new images, describing images, participating in the community experience at large. I'm sure there are thousands and thousands more who have dedicated, similarly, very large chunks out of their evenings. Sadly there is little or no remuneration for these throngs of artists and contributors. If I were not creating art, I most likely would be creating music. So this 4 hours of art energy... means 4 hours less musical energy? I'm not sure how this math works?

(I still have not found any dedicated takers for my String Quartet number 1... and I have all but given up.)

Is a VAST markup considered unethical. If somebody prices their print at $40,000, to allow a rich patron an easy avenue for giving support. Would people frown upon this? If for example, Brad Pitt purchased a piece at $40,000 dollars, and the artist then dedicated all of his work to Brad for the remainder of that calendar year. In such a hypothetical, Brad, essentially would have given support and affirmation, to this artist. And the artist, in turn would give thanks through further works of art. Would this not be a reasonable exchange in money and in spirit?
