The Badlands

During our travels out west this summer, we came upon many places that was of interest...but the Badlands was one that still sort of lingers in our minds. Maria came walking into this piece...we ended up a little lost and driving around the Lakota reservation before coming upon the wonderfully colored rock formations located in an endless prairie of grass. I remember a hiker that had gotten sun poisoning and claimed that she was aggressively chased by a rattlesnake to a doubtful park ranger. It was hot, a thunderstorm was lingering, and the yucca plants were very bright. My aunt and uncle had told me of this place long ago...and she was right about the mystery and beauty of it.
