It was a great morning for a walk, and the wildflowers along the Centennial Park Trail south of the Rec Center were in fine form! Many of them were tiny, no more than 3-4" tall with flowers less than 1/2" wide. Even the Common Sunflowers this year seem to be smaller than usual with many only reaching a height of 1' or so. The plants found included Chinchweed, Showy Palafoxia, Curlycup Gumweed, Common Sunflowers, Eveningstar, and Small-bracted Dayflowers. The photo included with this blog is a close up of Chinchweed flowers. The complexity of the blossoms is a bit overwhelming, as the closeup shows. Thanks for the wonders of photography to be able to carefully study such beauty!
