Negative Spaces

For me art is a process, as I add new skills to my toolbox as I grow as a person and a painter I'll be on an amazing journey with all those whom I encounter along the path of discovering the realms of possibility. We all wonder what others will see in our attempts at explaining the unknown force that makes us both the creator and the spectator when we review our efforts. I have been a solo painter for so long that no matter how much I try to fit in I'm still an outsider. I did not go to college for art so yes I lack technique and perhaps a barrage of other important qualities that assist in making good art; but, I am taking lessons. For now all I can do is paint however it comes out of me; if I try to paint to please others whatever raw drive I have that forces me to want to paint will not be genuine. When I paint I am exploring while I am asking of the universe to help me express myself. I am grateful to those who take the time to teach me in any fashion as I live to learn. This lesson in class was about negative spaces underneath contour drawings. I will attempt a few more like this to continue this experiment of expanding my horizons.
