April 23, 2014 - greetings from sunny Palm Springs California -

a breezy Spring Wednesday in late April finds me signing up for fineartsamerica.com - something I had no idea I would do, ever. I came here looking for a particular artist. my painting instructor at the Desert Art Center workshop in Palm Springs had told me his name and said to look him up, so here I am.

Robert Schmidt. that’s his name. I see why David Fairrington directed me to see his work. we are somewhat alike in technique and color and that indefinable spirit that shows through. I like his work a lot.

so I’m following Robert Schmidt and I’ve just allowed myself to fall into that pit of ‘signing up’ here, thinking “well, heck, why not - it’s a learning experience and evidently I’m ready because here I am at this join-up page.” it was easy. I picked one painting, my favorite of this Winter season just ending here in Palm Springs, and went through the traces using it as my try-out.
