Keep on Rolling

I've been drawing and painting for approximately five years now. I have been selling my art for about two years. Finally in the last few days, I have felt like things are starting to click.
I used to make a painting here and there. They were few and far between. Some were good and some were bad. Even when I started doing this professionally, there was an embarrassingly long time between pieces of art. I would make a painting a month; and that's if I was lucky.
It wasn't so much that I was lazy. The problem was more that I lacked a real voice as an artist. I didn't always have ideas. When I did have ideas they weren't always that great and they weren't always that original. Looking back at some of my older paintings, I can clearly see my style evolve as I am finding my voice.
Now I really believe that I am coming into my own as an artist. I think that the paintings I have completed in the last month have been a bit more unique and a bit more "me". I feel that I am finally figuring out what I like and what works for me. This is a powerful feeling.
I have always enjoyed my job, but I have also feared that I would hit a wall and fail. Now I don't fear that. The more I meet other artists, create new paintings, and keep going in my business and artistic ventures, the more confident I feel that everything will be just fine. It may be a slow process, but I expect big things in the coming year. I really believe that artistic and professional success can be mine!
