Amazing Things - Sun dog

Did you ever see or hear of a Sun Dog? Well – I can tell you they are amazing! I had never heard of one until one day I was driving down the road and SAW ONE! It is kind of like a rainbow around the sun. The rainbow circles the sun but is brighter toward the bottom.

Here is the Wikipedia definition - A sun dog (or sundog), is an atmospheric phenomenon that creates bright spots of light in the sky, often on a luminous ring or halo on either side of the sun.

I literally had to stop to take a picture of this rainbow that I later learned was a sun dog. I was on a county highway road going 55 miles an hour. Sure was a good thing there weren’t any cars around, because, of course, I had my camera and had to get out of the car to take a picture. Pictures are worth a thousand words but sometimes they don’t do justice for things as beautiful as that. I printed it out but was disappointed that it didn’t look as cool in print as I thought it would. So – I’m glad I took the time to see it in real life because it is engraved in my memory.
