Is This A Scammer?

I have recently received an email from a person by the alias "Dominicus Eliyah". He wrote to me in French and it was full of grammar mistakes to the point that I was struggling to understand him. He did not introduce himself and, right off the bat, said he wanted to purchase my painting and asked me for more photos of my painting, a signed quotation, and my bank account information to make a wire transfer. I replied to him asking him to introduce himself first and to discuss with me the painting. I always talked with anyone who has had purchased one of my artworks beforehand. He never introduced himself and said vaguely that the painting will be in Strasbourg, France, and kept asking for my banking information. I said to myself "well, he won't be able to make any fraud with my B.I.C, Swift code, and bank name" so I gave it to him. Since then he has never replied to me. He simply vanished. It seems quite mysterious

Yes, it is a scam!! Never, ever give anyone your bank info. I don't know what a B.I.C. or swift code is, so I hope he can't withdraw any funds.
Use PayPal.

The method you gave him is very secure. Safer than PayPal in some ways. All he can do with that is give you money

make sure at the very least he tells you exactly what image he wants. very often the scammer simply says - i love your art, send me some art, anything will be fine. that's a big red flag and hysterical at the same time. the bank transfer is slow and i never liked it. you end up giving up a bunch of info. but i think they need that info to send money to it. i don't think its reversible like it is in paypal. but it also takes a very long time to verify. considering its all electronic, it actually takes weeks. and there is also a charge (on mine at least), so know that charge and charge a little extra for wire transfer.

You're considering the possibility that some complete stranger from the internet asking for your banking information might NOT be a scammer?

Edward, thanks for sharing these sites. I think all of us need to see those.

And I too agree from the moment I started reading your post, it is a scam. I agree too with Val, he vanished because he couldn't take your money?

You will be doing the best thing for yourself by walking away.....
