Watching the sunset even on a cold winter's day is an experience of joy every single time. I'm always amazed that in winter the sky can light up like a fire warming you right down to your heart and soul a beauty to behold.

Rice Paper butterfly

Thank you so very much for featuring this image, "My Mockingbird" Bob! Nadine! Truly honored!!!

Mockingbirds are overall gray-brown, paler on the breast and belly, with two white wingbars on each wing. A white patch in each wing is often visible on perched birds, and in flight these become large white flashes. The white outer tail feathers are also flashy in flight! The Mockingbird enjoys making its presence known with a variation of over 200 songs (bird calls)! I personally love the song, noise to others! It usually sits conspicuously on high vegetation, fences, eaves, or telephone wires, or runs and hops along the ground.

One of the most spectacular flower display are the Spring Flowering Dogwood. Cornus florida is known for its brilliant show of white or pink flowers in the early spring before their leaves emerge. This dogwood species is also valued for its layered branching habit, interesting red fruit, and nice fall color!

A father lifts his little child into the sky as they played together on the beach. I captured this spontaneous image of his pure joy in Florida on the east coast. It has been digitally processed a few times over the years as it was taken with an old camera. This time I enhanced it to look like a watercolor painting. I'm always drawn back to this image in my mind. It's my son and granddaughter!

Thank you for featuring "Death Vally Desolation!" I captured this image while driving through Death Valley in the month of August. Living on the east side of the U.S. did not prepare me for the beauty of the red landscape that changes with the sun nor the heat during the summertime. It is difficult to imagine surviving the intensity of the heat without the modern convenience of air conditioning but Native Americans have lived there and continue to do so to this day!
