I have had no luck with it. I do like to visit the site. There is a lot of interesting stuff to look at.

best not to think about it. there are things about that search that make very little sense. images high on sales are at the top. yet i have images at the top that had no sales or views. so i just try not think about it and promote it off the site, but work with the search the best i can. if you think about it too much, you'll fall into the crowd that thinks they can game the system some how.

it confuses me for some reason....

no, not really. the image still has to sell, it's sales first, then everything else second, but it is a good start. views, votes, comments, i'm pretty sure outside links and not just inside ones are also a factor. stumble might be a good way to get a few links to your page though. and get your name associated with your work, and that's always a good thing. i'm pretty sure they allow a description, make sure that's the first thing they read.

Melissa, It's not as simple as that. There are dozens of factors that determine the search results. Views is only one and not nearly as weighted as sales. If the 5 viewed image had a sell then no matter how many zillions of views the other one gets it won't show ahead of the selling one. The complete formula is a secret and the subject of many threads on getting yourself noticed.

just to add , so if a image has 30k views it will be on a top of the page then a image with 5?

I know I have never got a sale from stumbles because the images I stumbled never sold.

not really. stumble is like a big spinning wheel. when people are bored they spin the wheel to get here. they are here because they are bored, not because they want art. so you get views - which can help you. you might get some exposure. but there is a limit of how many of your own things from one location - you can put in that place before it either stops or bans you. but i would say no, they don't help that much. because your not directing your art right at them. they are just -- stumbling in.

I've never used it but I don't think views bump you up in the search, it's more to do with comments, votes, keywords and descriptions I thought.

I have not seen the "Stumbled Upon" button for months. It used to be under every image, grouped with votes etc. Has it moved?

If you walk out of the alley with your clothes disshoveled and a smile on your face, you know you sold something.

How do you sale, or how do you know you have sold anything there ???

Gershwin Smud

I can tell you this, I stumbled upon a bag lady in the alley last night. She was very helpful.

It does seem to add a lot of views for me but not necessarily buyers. However, I have noticed that the increased views sometimes put my image on the first page of an FAA search, so in that way maybe it is helpful. .

(And as you see, other artists have had success from it.)

Yes, and I have sold from it.

I mean you could get a LOT of views in a very short time. Since none of those led to sales after doing it a while I gathered they are hollow views. So, it skewed my stats on how many views I get per sale and how much money any one view is worth to me. There are other hollow views as well like bots or fellow artists but nothing I can do about them so they just get rolled into the data.

JC, what do you mean skewed your views?

JC Findley

I have never made a sale with it and it skewed my views so I do not use it.

you never know and it only takes a second to stumble something so can't hurt.

Not too sure how to use it wisely, but I've got followers: http://www.stumbleupon.com/stumbler/zxling1/lists
