Woodcut Prints
Woodcut prints (usually on paper) are created by carving into a flat wood block and removing all wood that will not be printed and will appear as white. The black (or other color) is the wood not removed, where ink is rolled onto, and the paper is laid on and pressed so the ink is transferred to the paper. The paper print is the reverse of the carved wood image, requiring some planning, especially if words are part of the design.
