With painted creations ranging from abstract spirituality to portraits maintaing reality with exacting detail, Suzanne King’s skills as an artist reach across the spectrum of her craft. While being at the core a free-spirited creative-type, Suzanne is tethered to the earth by a rare humility found in her corner of the arts, causing her to be on time and deliver exactly what she’s contracted to create. With those qualities having been seasoned over the course of time, Suzanne’s growing vision for the future is beginning to center on bringing younger artists into fullness in their own unique styles and expressions.
Born in Texas and raised in Austin, she’s one of the homegrown anchors in Austin’s creative community. She obtained her BFA from UT and possesses teacher certification for public and private schools and also gives private lessons on occasion. One of her proudest moments in giving back to her community is the children’s mural in the Dripping Springs library. She also loves doing portraits of people as gifts and expressing the overflow of her heart in prophetic art painted live during church services.
Suzanne has drawn creative inspiration from many influences. One of the first that comes to mind is Georgia O’Keefe for the brilliant perspectives in her work. Another is Mary Cassatt for her skill in capturing a moment on canvas, especially in scenes of intimacy between mothers and children and her ability to capture the essence of human nature.
Her noticeable use of color and texture have of late really begun to define Suzanne’s work, and keeps her meandering down the lane of her creative journey. New defining factors will always emerge if one stays faithful to the heart and where it leads the brush. She strives to be more transparent with her ability to paint onto the canvas what she sees in abstract concept, and to convey the message with increasing lucid quality and excellence.
