En Plein Air Paintings on Location
One of my desires is to become the best landscape artist I can be, and it is said that En Plein Air painting is the best learning tool you can do. So for Christmas 2012, I received all the equipment needed for a professional En Plein Air artist to use. Since spring, I have been taking every opportunity to get out and paint at the locations we travel to. My efforts have been trial not having any lessons from a more experienced En Plein Air artist. It is fun, but dealing with the wind, rain, bugs (some bite) and other things that make this form of art interesting is quite a learning experience in itsself! Photos simply cannot capture what you can see when you are standing looking at nature for hours on end. I have begun from painting number one keeping a journal of photos of the scene, work in progress photos, what the day was like, and what I felt that I learned from the experience. Painting number ten was my best so far and I felt that I was starting to see a style I enjoyed . One of my friends told me that the first hundred were the hard ones, and after that it was a piece of cake! I only (at this writing) have ninety more to go. grin Roena
