I am drawn to abstract forms of expression and my work and process follow that direction. Currently, my work focuses on exploring and experimenting with acrylics on canvas and wood. My process involves letting go of the urge to impose my will and control the direction of the painting, for example with an idea or concept. As I paint, I openly receive the combination of colours, the shape of the lines, and the impression of the textures, that in turn ignite the horizon of possibilities which feed my imagination. By doing so, I attempt to surrender to the moment and let my thoughts, feelings, and impulses guide my hand. This spontaneous intuitive process is what constantly informs my next response. When I paint I do not try to get it right, but try to stay in the moment and, paradoxically, allow the painting to paint itself. The final outcome can be understood as a visual play expressed by and through a dialogue between the paint, canvas, and I.
Abstract painting is a journey of self-discovery and demands an artist to reveal something about their self. When the artist frees himself from judgement, fear, and results oriented thinking and is able to work from a place of complete honesty, his individual expression becomes a truthful statement that reveals something about him in its reflection.
Beauty reveals itself in the light of what it truly means to be human.
