Larry Roberson is a professional photographer who has spent the last four years photographing Puerto Penasco. In addition to Puerto Penasco, he has photographed extensively in Sedona, Arizona and in Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Italy, France, Greece, England, Ireland, Scotland, Africa, and the Caribbean Islands.
Larry began photography as a hobby over 40 years ago. At that point, film was the only medium and a dark room was out of the question. His young son needed the extra room to sleep in and food and formula was more necessary than film. He continued to pursue photography with whatever money might be left and after struggling with a Kodak Instamatic, finally was able to talk his wife into a Canon 35mm. The cost of developing remained a problem, as all the photos needed to be developed before he knew which photos were the best. With the introduction of digital photography Larry developed a love for the art of photography. He could take hundreds of photographs, download them onto the computer, delete the undesirable ones with no cost and only print the exceptional ones. As his experience and training increased, the number of undesirable photos began to diminish and the skill of taking great photos increased.
Larry has completed coursework in digital photography from the New York Institute of Photography in New York City. He is a member of the National Association of Professional Photographers. He has attended numerous courses on photography and Photoshop. Larry has also attended many conferences on photography and Photoshop techniques. Software programs such as Photoshop and Lightroom have opened up the artistic avenues that in the past required thousands of dollars in darkroom equipment. In addition to landscape photography, he has done wedding photography and family portrait photography in outdoor locations.
Larry’s first gallery was made possible in Puerto Penasco through the cooperation of the owners of Hacienda Del Sol. Blanca Bejarano and Hector Martinez Soto’s generosity has made a life long goal possible. Here, people will be able to see what about Puerto Penasco has made Larry’s family fall in love with it.
