Biography... hmm, I've never been very good at biographies. But here goes nothing.
For me, photography had no single inspirational, breakthrough epiphany. Instead, it has been a force that has slowly, steadily been building in my life. I think the earliest sign of interest can be traced back to the computer game Amazon Trail. One side aspect of the game was to take photos of animals in the forest along your journey. I became consumed by this aspect, and cared nothing about ending the journey. Something similar happened a few years later, with the game Pilotwings 64. But stubborn as I am, I didn't notice the signs. Finally, in about junior year of high school, I asked for a digital camera for my birthday -- to take photos of friends, but that is not what happened. I became consumed with searching for subjects in my neighborhood... macros, landscapes, sunsets, etc. My interest accelerated, and in senior year, I got my first SLR. The rest, as they say, is history.
Beyond photography, I am mostly an engineer and a sailor. I sailed competitively for eight years. Now, I am pursuing my PhD in Mechanical Engineering, but no longer have eligibility to sail competitively. I still do it recreationally, but photography is slowly edging it out. Anyways, I'm sure that is more than anyone cared to read. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy my gallery!
