About Mary Mikawoz

Mary Mikawoz is a Canadian of Polish descent who follows in the footsteps of a number of artists and photographers in the family. She has studied photography and art from places like Champlain College in Montreal to Algonquin College in Ottawa to the Art Gallery School in Winnipeg. Mary graduated from the University of Manitoba and Red River College.

When it comes to photography, Mary feels as if she is inspired by God or the Universe. It is as if she is meant to 'capture this moment in time.' Otherwise, she takes images that have nice compositions or from points of view that other people might not normally look at. She likes to take powerful images that have impact. Her artistic work includes photography, drawing, digital art, mixed media and painting. Mary has travelled extensively in Canada, the United States and Europe.

Lunar Moon

December 13th, 2013

I had a great time taking photos of this moon. Being present at night time, the skies are black except for the lunar moon which is full in breadth and appearance. There is a beige tinge to the revolving rock around the Earth. Did you know that t...

December 12th, 2013

ET Face in Tree

December 11th, 2013

Toppled Wire Fence

December 6th, 2013

Toppled Wire Fence I really don’t have much to say about this photo other than I like the simplicity of it. The strain of use over time has made this wire fence topple over at the post’s base. I always find it interesting how you get not only wh...

Butterflies, Flowers and a Bee

December 5th, 2013

Butterflies, Flowers And A Bee As it is snowing and a bit cold out, I thought I would cheer some people up with a spring photo of orange and black butterflies, beautiful yellow flowers which I think is the Canola crop and a bee. There were a lot ...

Baby Merganser

December 4th, 2013

Baby Merganser I had a hard time capturing this photo and some others similar to it because ducks are mobile, constantly moving by swimming, ducking into the water and/or flying. This is a baby merganser just developing its changing colours and f...

Broken Down

December 3rd, 2013

I took this photo because I like the broken down shed in the back. It may have been a barn but it is not traditional looking as the big, red old barns do. The attention of the photo starts with the fence and then takes you to the old shed. Even th...

Water Scene

December 2nd, 2013

Water Scene This is a photo of a simple little water scene. The yellow and black fish swim along the pink and purple coral. Sorry, I am not even sure what the names are of all the parts of this water scene. To me, it is just beautiful being nam...

Golden Gate Bridge 3

November 27th, 2013

I took this photo as a comparison between a huge ocean liner carrier and the minimum height of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is so high up that it seems like you could put to ocean liner ships one on top of the other. You can also see some of the roug...

Golden Gate Bridge 2

November 26th, 2013

This photo shows most of the expanse of the Golden Gate Bridge. What is interesting to note is that the construction on the bridge started in 1933 and that it was finished ahead of schedule and under budget. This should serve as a signal to today’s...

Golden Gate Bridge 1

November 25th, 2013

This photo is a different view of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. The towers are visible but not the entire bridge. Apparently, there is usually a lot of fog covering the bridge and it remains visible for very few days of the y...

Rainfall on Ocean

November 22nd, 2013

This is a shot of Waikiki Beach in Oahu, Hawaii. Over the ocean there are storm clouds in the sky and from the bottom, you can see how the rain has started on the ocean. It was very difficult to get any photos as these beaches are almost always ful...

Moon Through Palm Trees

November 21st, 2013

This photographic shot was taken in the evening while we enjoyed a Luau on Oahu, Hawaii. The moon is almost hidden by the palm trees even though it is fully in the sky. Who doesn’t like a full moon? There is something spectacular in seeing the who...

Solo Bald Eagle

November 13th, 2013

Solo Bald Eagle This is one of the best photos I have of a solo Bald Eagle. The background was just perfect. I also like the way the plumage is gently flying in the air. Its beak is perfect for what he needs to do. The eye is piercing. Love t...

Red Old Barn

Embracing

July 29th, 2013

Giraffe

July 26th, 2013

This drawing is simply to show you after all the abstracts that I do, that I can do a traditional rendering or drawing of an animal. I realize that some of you who have seen my work but do not understand “abstract” art wonder if I can “really” draw....

Art Symbolism Explained - Sprouting Seed 1 This abstract painting shows a “Sprouting Seed” but what it does, for me, is symbolize the birth or creation of the very first soul which is Adam as in the Bible. He is sprouting as if from a cocoon and ...

Sausalito Shoreline

July 24th, 2013

I think one of the coolest things about Sausalito, California is that it is only 13 feet above sea level. Can’t do much better than that. The population of this quaint little city with colourful buildings is only about 7000 people and is located at...
