John Small is engaged in training through the Ani Art Academy Waichulis realism series and working on his Studio Art certification through the Worcester Art Museum. His work focuses on the intensity and style of extreme realism in oil paintings and drawings; while his visual arts are also expressed through illustration and digital photography.
John was born in 1964 and grew up, along with his six siblings in Old Mystic, CT.
He was drawn to both music and art at an early age. As a boy, he modeled the illustration styles from many of the Marvel Comics artists.
At 18, music became John's sole artistic focus, which he expressed through songwriting, live performances and studio recordings.
Original music has remained a constant for John ever since.
Over the years, John received training as a graphic designer and is currently the Managing Editor of two magazines he owns with his husband, Paul Carr. In 2011, an entirely new muse struck John and the world of visual arts, especially oil painting, illustrating and drawing awakened a sleeping voice.
His original paintings will be available through his website and Ebay online store and prints are available at Fine Arts America.
John lives in central Massachusetts with Paul and their two dogs.
