About Jeannina Blanco

Jeannina Blanco was born on December 2nd, 1966. At age twenty one, moved to California where she took painting workshops with Marilyn Polliquin at Cannery Paints in Newport Beach and later on great artist Hedi Moran in Scottsdale Artist School in Arizona, after she recovered from a craniotomy. Her passion for Alla Prima painting was acquired with practice and learning from associated artists of the California Plein Air Painters Association. She also belonged to the California Art Club and Artsbridge. She is admitted to the Salmagundi Club New York and actively participates in Cost Rica Visual Artists Association. She is also part of the l International Association of Art.

Blanco opened his first studio in Newport Beach, California in 1998 and returned to Costa Rica in 2002 when she began teaching and exhibited her artwork in both countries, including at curated exhibitions of the Salmagundi Club New York of which was a member for five years. She is an active member the Costa Rican Association of Visual Artists (ACAV).

Her work has been published in the Los Angeles Times, the Orange County Edition and The Artist's Blue Book among other publications including magazines, newspapers and TV interviews in Costa Rica as well. Her style blends Impressionism and Realism expressively. Her work is collected in over twenty countries including several murals, more than seven hundred paintings, drawings, photographs and a video documentary of 55 minutes about the theater history Costa Rican that it was declared of Cultural Interest in Costa Rica in 2009.
Her artwork includes more than 800 paintings and she is being collected in more than twenty countries around the world.
On 2014 she received the special Mention for Quality at the 2nd Contemporary Art Biennale Biennale at Argentina and continues to participate at international expositions. She is one of the founders and main activist for the Plein Air movement in Costa Rica since 2012.

I did not choose to be an artist, Art chose me! It found me, healed me and gave me a great reason to live on this fascinating path I have traveled, full of learning and satisfaction. I do not cease to be wondered.
To me, the artistic creation is an act of love.
