Inspiration for my artwork comes from my love of animals. A love I have always had as far back as I can remember. And itís my connection to them, my relationship with them and my understanding of them that has become the focus and drive to create the work. I usually work in oil pastel and occasionally with watercolors. Oil pastel is a challenging medium; dense, thick, with a waxy base which usually cannot be applied to a surface with a brush, unless thinned down. Without brushwork to rely on for application and texture, I have to use and often devise other methods to apply pigment and move it around to obtain the desired result, For the watercolor work I like to use the translucent Yupo brand paper for me it brings a soft looseness and brilliancy quality to my work.
I also do commissions please see my website for more information: http://zhibit.org/jmfischer
