Jack Donahue, retired educator, have emphasized watercolors or mixed media using watercolor as the primary media. Enjoy working with pastels, oils, and acrylics.
Currently subject matter is taken from the daily newspapers and illustrates through watecolors the elements I feel or think should be preserved and how an artist views
current events. Obviously not all subjects are seen as desirable, such as war-conflict or poverty, although I can and occasionally do flowers or some landscapes, but
for myself it has to touch something unique in my expression. I have lived in New York City for 40 years and many of my paintings reflect NYC. I am a licensed tourguide for NYC and it gave me great opportunities to see the city from many points of view, in many weather conditions, and the many events. My paintings are more of impressions, not photographs. I think that if you want a detailed painting that is not my talent, I'll use a camera. I have also illustrated poems, prayers, and short stories. Attended workshops at the New York Gay Center and the Lesley Lohman-Gallery, both in NYC.
