On painting
For me painting is about self discovery, both in the creation and later in the feelings that arise when I view my work. I don't attempt to paint a message or my thoughts instead I paint color. Color has its own voice. For me at this time, color speaks a language more universal ands archetypal then any spoken word. Art is my entry into the transcendental and can bring me closer to the spiritual world. My intent is not to render a sunrise, but to penetrate its very nature, to look behind what I see, to experience something of the spiritual force that creates it.

Basically, when I work in a 3-D medium I am faced with several challenges that differ from working on canvas with paint and collage. Some of the challenges include; how will it appear from various sides, how will I secure it to a base, what will I choose to connect the objects that I will use, will it be fixed or kinetic and will I ad color or use the natural patinas (if metal) or wood grain (if wood). All these things are then part of my creative process however, much of the process described above in regards to painting also ring true.
I've worked as a professional artist for over 25 years; as a jeweler, sculptor and painter. My work has been shown in various galleries through out the West and South Western United States.
From 2003 to 2006 I had a fine art gallery in Wilmington, North Carolina by the name of T.A.G (The Artists' Gallery at Lumina.) opened in June of 2003, eventually representing over 50 artists whose works were shown on a regular basis. Several times a year the gallery hosted invitational exhibitions in which non-gallery artists' showed alongside T.A.G. artists to present a broader spectrum of styles and mediums for our theme specific exhibits.
Philanthropy was a major part of the philosophy at T.A.G. always committed to presenting the best in the arts as well as doing our part to support the community, hosting art based fund & awareness raising events for art, humanitarian and environmental NGOs’ through unique and engaging community events.
T.A.G. voted the “Best Art Gallery 2006” in Wilmington, by Encore Magazine. T.A.G. was dedicated to showcasing quality fine art & master crafts through a series of changing exhibitions, both theme specific and small group shows, featuring works by mature and emerging professional artists. T.A.G. represents local, regional and international artists.
In 2007 I relocated to the Portland, Oregon where I continue to explore my creative path.
