Danuta Bennett

Danuta Bennett is an artist who specializes in semi realistic and evocative drawings, oil paintings and digital art. Her use of minimum color makes the images feel almost monochromatic, focusing on the subject rather than the color.
Born in Poland during communist times, she moved to United States in 1999, and currently lives and works in Santa Barbara, California. Growing up in a society where everybody had the same furniture and art on their walls, she became a seeker who tried to express herself uniquely through painting and drawing.

She has two loves: Science and Art. While she earned her PhD in natural sciences and perused a career as an ecologist, her artistic side was always calling, so she continued to create. She landed her first oil painting commission and earned her first “art money” while still in Poland. Later in the U.S., she began to sell her oil paintings and drawings. Inspired by her father’s love of photography, she picked up the camera and started to look at the word through the camera lens. Her work as a graphic designer later led to showcasing her digital art on CNN television. Danuta's artwork has also been featured in online scientific magazines (New Scientist, The Epoch Times and World Environment News).


ARTIST PHILOSOPHY
A While ago I came across a quote from one of French painters, Pierre Bonnard who said that painting has to get back to its original goal, examining the inner lives of human beings.
My goal is to represent realistic art in such a way that it is a springboard into your subconsciousness. Realistic art affords a unique opportunity not only to capture the moment, but also to evoke an atmosphere of uniqueness to one's self. Through my art, I want to take you on a journey, to visit places I have seen in such a way that our shared experiences will create an exclusive vision, a place shared by only you and me. You won't find my art over dramatic, but I hope you will experience a rather simple visual perspective that you can expand on. I challenge you to look beyond the simple subjects as well as beyond the technical attributes of my art and see more than just collections of line and strokes. I hope to stimulate your imagination and take you to another plain. I experienced my own artistic journey during creations of every individual piece, now it is your turn to let your imagination take you on your own adventure and to evoke your own inner associations.
