Minimalism

Depending upon the subject matter and the treatment, a minimalist image can have that "ahhhh" quality that imparts a feeling of Zen-like serenity. On the opposite extreme, I feel that minimalism can impart a sense of "WOW", when the artist has focused on bold geometrics, which is sometimes found in architectural pieces. One of the most important elements for me is that, in focusing on the minute, minimalism must in some way make us realize "the whole" and perhaps in the process cause a thought pattern in the viewer that will produce a renewed appreciation for the world surrounding us.
