I grew up in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. I had an interest in art as a child and would draw pictures in my school notebooks. When I went to college I majored in art, but later changed my major to music. Although I loved music, I regret not continuing my art studies.
Many years later I started working at a frame shop in Florence, Alabama and took up my pursuit of art when I started painting in watercolors. I began taking photographs to use in watercolor paintings and soon discovered that i had a good eye for taking pictures so i pursued it.
I moved to Florida in 1994 and worked at a frame shop in Naples, on the southwest coast. I was walking on the beach one morning at 7:00 am and witnessed the only moonset I have ever seen. I was lucky enough to have brought my camera that morning and took a few pictures of it. I was so pleased with the photos that I entered my favorite in a local photography competition and won second place. I still have the ribbon. I would have included it in my photos here, but the copy I have on my computer is too small. I will have a copy made and scan it at a high resolution and include it in the future.
I have been fortunate in my life to have traveled some and have also lived in Oregon, Tennessee and Costa Rica. I took a road trip and drove through California, down the Big Sur Highway, through Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and stopped in Tennessee to visit my family. On the return trip to Oregon, I drove through Kansas, Missouri, and Utah. I also visited Washington state and stayed a few days in Sumner, south of Seattle. I now live in Tennessee and enjoy spending time with my family here.
I will continue to take pictures and paint with watercolors. I also enjoy experimenting with computer art using Paint Shop Pro to manipulate and enhance my photos. I also created some fractal art for a short time with some fun results.
I can make greeting cards of all my photos if needed.
Life would have been extremely dull if not for art and music.
