Carol Barrington has been “chasing the light” around the world since winning her first photography prize at the age of 16. Chances are high that you’ve already enjoyed her images and stories many times in America’s major travel pages.
From 1979 to 1995 she specialized in producing front page color travel features (editorial plus photography) for newspapers such as the Chicago Tribune, Houston Chronicle, Fort Worth Star Telegram, Atlanta Journal, Miami Herald, Portland Oregonian, Denver Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Dallas Morning News, Orange County (CA) Register, and the San Diego Union. A 1986 compilation of her newspaper and magazine work won her the title of Lowell Thomas Travel Journalist of the Year, the first freelance travel journalist to win this highly coveted prize.
Additionally, her travel images have appeared in special publications of Life Magazine and the Smithsonian as well as more than two dozen magazines. The pick of her on-going photographic crop is available for licensing via her storefront website, www.DestinationPhotography.com, (hosted by IPN) and through more than a dozen agents worldwide.
Carol’s professional memberships include the American Society of Media Photographers, American Society of Picture Professionals, and the Society of American Travel Writers (president, 1990). Note that all the images she has made available via FAA have been registered with the US Copyright Office and cannot be reproduced by any methods without her express permission or through the specific offerings of FAA. Image pirates will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
