I was born in the province of Padova, Italy in 1982. I relocated to the U.S.A. when I was 24 years old, leaving behind a land where my family had roots since 1446. In this narrative series, there is the concentration of my intense experience and a study of the human psyche. This personal research resulted in an understanding of the patterns seen in the people that crossed my path. I do not intend to represent the absolute truth, but a story that illustrates the path of a particular character, where the viewer can identify himself/herself in a small or a large trait of this path.
I want to show the reality rolled around success, the dark aspect of the before and the after part of reaching the top of that desired mountain. I want to achieve this in six major stations of life: 1. Birth gave the dominance over the other living things; 2. The ability to learn gave the power of growing intelligence; 3. Hypocrisy: the application of theory can result in exploitation of other humans; 4. The success of reaching the top in a career often results in an explosion of energy that will tear down everything else in the character’s life and of those around him/her; 5. Eventually financial wealth will isolate the individual and will have to walk in a cold gray path; 6. In the end, the individual learned that the whole life was spent waiting promotion after promotion and each time he achieved it, he became something less interesting, to eventually return to dirt. The choice of clay is to draw the viewer’s feelings to the realism of this story, an artwork representing the deterioration of a human’s body made of a material that everybody will turn into.
I expect to leave a heavy mark on the audiences’ conscious with his revealing, but disturbing artworks. My resources to achieve these intense images are various, but I often fall into the attraction for the classical paintings of the Renaissance. The series represents an enclosed body of work that represents my creative ability up to this point. I could explain in a thousand words this series of artworks, but in my view: art is what we cannot say to each other simply with words. There is a feeling that surrounds art that goes beyond textures, colors, shapes and the illustration itself. That feeling is the communication we are unable to deliver.
My mission is to appeal to an audience normally intimidated by galleries and museums. My directness and choice of topics draw intellectuals as well as minds looking for aesthetical beauty. With this in mind, I want to revolutionize the contemporary art world unable to deliver such invention. To those who think understanding art is difficult, I believe that is an excuse to avoid the usage of emotions and intelligence. Everybody should feel responsible in understanding art, there are millions of years of human history behind artworks and we are all a part of it.
