The essence of her artworks is inspired by the bright colorful memories lingering, inviting it self to her paintings. As a child Aldonia started creating very young, sewing, crafting, crocheting, coloring and drawing, watercolors was her favorite medium used. These skill came in quite handy while caring for my five children at the time. I received her Associate of Arts from Los Angeles Trade Technical College , in Los Angeles 1982, and Attended Pasadena City College, Pasadena, California where she continued to Major in Art. A former San Gabriel Valley Fine Arts Association member and various art organizations, as her journey continued she explored with various medium as you will see joy, color and form incite energy into the artwork influence by culture style and beauty the painter's palette will calm or excite you. Challenging every medium exploring every concept, keeps me motivated and combining computer technology with the art mediums infuses the work and takes on a new style. A costume design for 'Ms Clown's' costume, was chosen for 'Wrapped in Pride' exhibition in 1999, at to UCLA Fowler Museum of Cultural History. The exhibit traveled to Smithsonian Institutions National Museum of African Art and Anacostia Museum, Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History in Detroit and Anchorage Museum of History and Art. In 2001, she received a grant to design, create, and collaborate, a community mural with artist George Combs titled 'In The Spirit of Peace!', from American Friends Service Committee Organization.
In 2005, she received the Visual Artist and Designer Award from Eaton Canyon. The Artists Helping Artists Organization, and founder of the Creative Line Publication, chose her as 'Regional Ambassador of San Gabriel Valley' for her outstanding representation and commitment in support of the arts. Aldonia has taught in the City of Pasadena Recreation program for over 12 years and was designated to create a 'Recreational Art for Kids Project Booklet' the after-school program.
Next Journey, She became an Arts Educator and Instructor working for over 20 years with at-risk youth and community at large. In 2008, Aldonia Bailey worked as a Fine Arts and Cultural Art teacher at ROTV Charter High School. In Collaboration with community partners in the arts Aldonia has worked with North Lake YMCA teaching art and computer classes, and hosted the First Black History Month Art Exhibit. Infinite Potential, Community Self-determination Institute, Pasadena Learns, A Step Ahead Arts School Program, P.U.S.D. 'Families in Transition' -Union Station Foundation are a few of many organizations, in support of the arts that Aldonia has service.
A tribute to African American Artist in the community, Aldonia exhibits at La Pintoresa Library. Aldonia served as Lead Artist on Natha.org Community Mural Project. was contracted to finish an existing mural 60'ft by 12'ft for the community neighborhood project.
