Paintings
This gallery contains images of famous paintings, photographed primarily at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, or an affiliated museum, such as the Corcoran Gallery of Art. The photographs are named and alphabetized in one of two ways. For most of the photographs, the artist's name precedes the name of the artwork, such as "Monet's The Japanese Footbridge", "Picasso's Family or Saltimbanques" and "Rembrandt's Portrait of a Lady with an Ostrich-Feather Fan". If the painting is a portrait of a famous person, the name of the individual is first in the title, followed by the painter's name, such as "George Washington by Gilbert Stuart" and "Abraham Lincoln by George Peter Alexander Healy". With this system of naming and sorting, you should be able to go directly to the work of a particular artist, or to the portraits of famous people like Washington and Lincoln.
