My name is Deda Happel, I am originally from Tennessee. The Beautiful smokey mountains has inspired me in many ways from the age of five. I moved from Tennessee to Atlanta Georgia in 1989 to attend the Art Institute of Atlanta where I was trained in visual communications and graduated with honors in 1991. I now live in Cedar Rapids where I have explored the many artistic opportunities available to me. I am inspired by nature and the play of light and color in nature. My paintings range from whimsical to abstract. I call my latest technique, focus painting.
