In the industrial district bordering downtown, terminal transfer performed the simple, but essential function of moving freight delivered in boxcars to trucks for delivery in the city. Some minimal warehousing activities might be performed, but the primary work was rail to truck transfer.

About Christopher Jenkins
I am an American artist who specializes in transportation subjects. I am retired after a 34 year career in the freight railroad industry, so I am familiar with my favorite subject matter. My objective is to capture the essence of a scene or a machine, but without distracting detail. In many of the paintings, I have worked to create a sense of motion. The paintings are created using traditional drawing and painting techniques, and a variety of high quality oil paints, brushes and other tools, including the painting knife. My process is as follows: I begin by making several pencil sketches from different angles and distances.
