In 2011 my wife and I took a vacation in France and based ourselves at a beautiful spot in Connelles on the River Seine. We toured the area, including a visit to Monet's iconic garden at Giverny. We were blessed by beautiful weather.
This painting shows part of the huge upper garden. As it was mid-May, the garden was awash with color with the irises and peonies in full bloom. It was truly breathtaking and I knew that I had to paint it.

Award-winning artist, Richard Harpum, paints in a realist style, paying meticulous attention to detail. His medium of choice is acrylics on canvas or board but he also uses oils and paints watercolour florals. Richard's primary focus is landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes and gardens but he also paints portraits, still lifes and florals.
