Beautiful, lovely work

Thank you so much, Anne. Nice to hear from you with such a nice comment. Interesting about your Dad. Gone are the days when signs are painted by hand. Computers killed the art in that trade as far as I'm concerned. Real sign painters are still few & far between as I knew them - most anyone off the street can learn a sign software & crank out a sign, but not that many could actually use a brush.....something that took a very long time to master because of the precision involved. Did he do gold leaf work as well? I did. And yes, you should definitely give Yupo a try sometime. It can be lots of fun & you can google it to find out more about it if you need to.

M.E., Lovely -oh so lovely. Also I have wanted to try yupo and perhaps now I will. Your retirement opened up a whole world for your paintings. My dad painted signs for 50 or 60 yrs. and painted with oils as well. Shine on, anne

Thank you, Bette. Those swirlies are very easy to achieve with yupo - it pretty much does it on its own if the surface is wet enough because it runs & mingles at will. Also, I lightly touched some ares with a tissue.

Very nice! I love how the background swirls and is very interesting! Amazing work again Marsha!

The print is much darker in person. It looks like an underexposed photo and hard to make out any detail on the bottom half of the print. Paper quality is good. Fast shipping.

About Marsha Elliott

Marsha Elliott

I’ve enjoyed art in one form or another since I was old enough to pick up a crayon and scribble on a wall. As early as third grade, I began blending colors and using shade to create form. Balancing marriage, motherhood and a full time career, there was only time enough to dabble in the fine arts. My 43 years as a sign artist afforded me a daily outlet for creativity. Now that I’m retired, I want to direct my creativity towards watercolor. It’s been a real challenge for me to break away from the very technical art form of sign making but the fluidity of the watercolor medium is helping me to do that. My subject matter is varied and my work is a unique combination of realist, impressionist and postimpressionist styles and...
