Artist's Description
This was on a trip to visit Old Point Loma Lighthouse near San Diego. I had hoped to get a nice sunset shot of the lighthouse, but unfortunately the park closes at 5.00pm, about half an hour before sunset. (Obviously there are not enough photographers running these facilities!)
The Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery was on the same road, so on the way past I stopped to take some photographs. I was particularly pleased with the detail in the tree, and the gravestones receding in all directions.
About Alexis Birkill
Born in the UK, I moved to Vancouver, BC in 2011. My career in photography has grown from a long-held passion for capturing the beauty of the world, aided on the technical side by my background as a software developer. I specialise in fine art photography of landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes in and around the Pacific Northwest, with work exhibited internationally. Many of my photographs feature the beautiful city of Vancouver, but as well as capturing its iconic cityscapes, I can often be found exploring the BC and Washington coastline for new photographic opportunities, as well as developing my portfolio of night sky photographs featuring the Milky Way and the Aurora Borealis.
