The painting began with the idea of Mum and Dad united behind junior, giving quality time to healthy, child centred activities. As it neared completion, my wife pointed out that it could just as easily be sons and daughters living in harmony and enjoying each other. Interpret it as you choose.

In the background, but standing tallest of all, is the Childrens Bible. It certainly proved its worth with our family. Our children looked at the pictures, listened, questioned. The book wore out, lost pages and lost its cover. - But the old fashioned values sank in.

Most of my paintings are executed in oils, often over the top of other media. Many are visual stories that contain partially hidden words or imagery where the homespun and the familiar become symbols of timeless truth.
