Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Love the iPhone case. Takes me back to Greece every time I look at it. I have received many compliments
I caught these fish while kayaking recently in a high mountain lake and decided to make a gyotaku print of them. Using non-toxic sumi ink on traditional Japanese rice paper, I made a print of the actual fish. Then, I used watercolor to paint in the colors of the fish in real life. These fish became a delicious dinner afterwards!
Years ago, I was taken by a painting I saw while on vacation in Alaska. It was a gyotaku rendering of a king salmon. As a result, I was inspired to paint my own series of gyotaku of fish that I have since caught while in southern Alaska. I use watercolors over non-toxic sumi ink on unryu rice paper to create a painting of the fish as it looked when it was alive. The red "chop" on the bottom right is my Japanese family name in kanji characters. All Japanese art is signed this way. Just as the Japanese fishermen did in the mid-1800's, I feel I am able to capture the fish's essence without the use of a camera or taxidermy. Each fish has its own story to tell!
