Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

It isn’t a far stretch to say that the opening of the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao Spain singlehandedly made the city of Bilbao a must-visit destination in Spain. The city was in decline in the late 1900s as its major industries of shipbuilding, and coal and steel production became outdated. In the 1990s, the American Guggenheim foundation was in search of a location for a European museum. As unlikely as it seems, the declining city of Bilbao was chosen and in a short period of four years the entire area along the Nervion River was transformed. The architect Frank Gehry was chosen for the project. The rusty dockyards disappeared and were replaced by green spaces, promenades, and a gigantic framework of curved steel. Corners and straight lines disappeared, replaced by waves, arches, and curves. The museum opened in 1997 and was overrun by art and architecture fans from all over the world.
